FERRY SCHEDULE

From the airport, the Mulifanua domestic Wharf and ferry terminal is a leisurely 10minute drive west. (If you travel into the capital, Apia first, this is a 40minute drive in the opposite direction). The Average price for a taxi to the wharf is around $10- $15 tala. Please find the below sailing times. It is advisable to still check with Samoa Shipping on their phone numbers these sailing times as these schedules are subject to last minute changes without notice.

MV Fotu

The Domestic ferries are operated by Samoa Shipping Corporation and ferries travel frequently between the hours of 6am and 4pm. The schedules vary slightly throughout the week depending on which day you decide to travel with the most infrequent travelling times on Sunday. The trip itself is a little over an hour, depending on which ferry one catches. We recommend that travellers catch the lady Samoa 3 as this is the biggest, most modern and most comfortable of the travelling ferries with ample indoor and outdoor seating as well as a little food shop onboard. This ferry usually takes 1hr- 1hr 15mins. The lady Samoa 2 is the next largest. This ferry is the older of the two and is slightly smaller. The Fotu/ express is a small open deck cargo ship which has limited passenger seating. We would discourage travellers from catching this ferry especially if you are not taking a vehicle over (if you take your vehicle over, if seating runs out you can still sit in your car- if you do not have a car, at times passengers find themselves having to stand , in the sun or rain, the entire duration of the trip!)

If you hope to bring a vehicle over, a reservation for your car will need to be made and it is important to have a return ticket for the vehicle booked ahead of time to avoid any delays at the wharf upon departure of Savaii. All cars must be at the wharf at least an hour before scheduled departure time.

To bring a vehicle over it is vital to have return confirmed tickets for your vehicle, especially if you plan to leave Samoa on the day that you leave Savaii. Note that a vehicle ticket will include only, 1 driver ticket. All other adults will cost $12 tala and children $8tala per trip. Often your rental car company can make this reservation for you so do enquire.
